Yes, I'm running one of the UK's toughest marathons!

In memory of my wonderful lovely Mum I'm planning to run my first ever Marathon, the very tough and hilly Huddersfield Marathon (26.2 miles) on the 5th June 2016. This date is very poignant as it's the exact date my Mum sadly passed away from Mesothelioma just last year. Mesothelioma is an incurable cancer caused by exposure to asbestos.

There is not a day goes by where I don't think of my Mum and I know that she will be looking down on me and will be with me every step of the way. I may seem a bit obsessive sometimes, but running has given me peace and something to focus on during these last nine months. I've never even attempted anywhere near this distance, so it goes without saying that my next goal had to be a marathon.

In memory of my Mum I am raising money for Mesothelioma UK, a national resource centre dedicated to providing specialist Mesothelioma information, support and improved care and treatment, who's services are free of charge; and who rely totally on donations, legacies, fundraising and sponsorship for financial support.

Trying to raise as much awareness and money as I can for Mesothelioma UK helps me focus on bringing something positive from something so awful and heart breaking.
