I DID IT!!!
I completed the London Marathon on Sunday. It was one of the best days of my life, but bloody hard work!
It took me 5 hours and 11 minutes but I got there. I am so unbelievably grateful for the masses of support I have had throughout my training, fundraising and on the big day itself. I have some amazing friends and family.
Just to remind you all: I took on this challenge as a very personal battle. I was diagnosed with myocarditis (inflammation of the heart) and was very seriously ill at the end of 2006. I was wired up in the Corony Care Unit and was unable to get out of bed. When I eventually came home from the hospital I couldn't walk up the stairs without pausing half way to catch my breath. It was an incredibly depressing time for me and also for my family.
This marathon marks an end to all of this for me, it has made my heart strong again and has made me confident things won't go wrong with my health too soon now! When I crossed the finish line I couldn't help but shed a few tears as I had finally done it - I had shown myself I will not be beaten.
I am truely grateful to everyone who has donated and given messages of support. The donations are all going to a fantastic cause, the Samaritans, who give such an amazing service to so many. It costs the Samaritans over £10 million a year to keep their services running and the work they do is incredible so your donation is grately appreciated.
Thank you again to everyone. xx
