<p>In a fit of complete madness, I've signed up for my first ever half marathon (not bad I guess for someone who only started running in my late 40s), and intend running the Silverstone Half on March 6th 2011 in an effort to raise further funds for my favourite charity, Cancer Research UK. My training plan was going well but during November and December due to bereavement, injury, car crashes, burst water pipes and snow in extreme quantities, the wheels came off the plan. I'll settle for getting round 13 miles even if I have to crawl the last bit...</p> <p>As many of you will know, I lost my Mum to cancer in December 2010 so the cause is very close to my heart, especially as I believe I would have lost her a lot sooner without the work that Cancer Research UK have done in combatting this disease.
