Steph Mitchell is running the 2012 Virgin London Marathon on 22 April 2012.....a whopping 26.2 miles!!!  It is something that I have always wanted to complete and I look forward to the challenge!! I am running to raise money for the charity Afasic  (Charity Number 1045617)  I have been saying for years that I would like to run the London Marathon before I'm 40 so when I got the chance this year I quickly accepted. Yes I’ve done some ‘gentle’ running before and usually as a means of taking the dog for some exercise.  However now the training has really stepped up a level and I am in need of continued encouragement and your donations will spur me on. Afasic is a great cause that I am running for, and one extremely close to our hearts. Being able to speak and communicate with other people is an essential life skill. For most children and young people learning to communicate comes easily.  However, for some like our daughter CASEY-MAE it is a major challenge and affects every aspect of their life. Afasic is a charity set up to help children and young people with speech and language impairments. The charity provides support and guidance to the parents and families of children with these difficulties and also tries to raise awareness to ensure that children and young people with speech and language impairments have equal opportunities. Afasic is a small charity that does not receive the same level of national press as others and is therefore really reliant on sponsorship such as this. I am determined to make sure I complete the race (and in a day!) even if I end up crawling over the finish line.
