On Friday 22 June, at 3pm, I will be swimming 2 miles of Windermere!! Many people have told me I must be crazy, and why am I doing it?! Those of you who know me will recall how much I love swimming. Never having swum this far outdoors, it will be a real challenge. And of course I will also be raising money for charity.

With so many deserving charities to choose from it was a difficult decision. After much deliberating I have decided to swim WIndermere to raise money for a local charity, Stockdales.

Stockdales is a registered charity based in Sale. For over 50 years, they have been caring and supporting children and adults with learning and physical difficulties and very complex health needs from all over the North West.

Stockdales run four homes in the Sale area providing residential and short breaks to those with the highest needs. They also offer a Lifeskills service, helping those with learing difficulties to build confidence and develop life skills. There are more than 60 people and their families being supported through Stockdales residential services and over 150 people are being given the opportunity to live happy and independent lives with the help of the Lifeskills service.
