London Bridges Challenge 2017 · 1 October 2017 ·
*So far, I have managed to raise £135 offline - thank you so much to many of my family & friends! With one week to go, I would love to reach my target!*
My life has changed since the day I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. My pancreas is ultimately broken(!) and no longer produces insulin so I have to monitor my blood glucose levels and inject myself with insulin. Sometimes I get it right but sometimes I get it wrong. Sometimes I feel like I'm doing a good job but other days it's really HARD. I know this all sounds terribly serious; type 1 diabetes is serious, but amongst the often invisible daily battles, there are a lot of positives that I have taken from being diagnosed with this condition too.
Diabetes UK has been an invaluable source of support from when I was diagnosed as a child to my life now as an adult. Diabetes UK never stop campaigning to improve the lives of people with Diabetes, whether that's through access to technology, research, putting on events for people with diabetes, raising awareness and support.
I want to give something back; I want to help improve the lives of people with diabetes and one day, I really want there to be a world without type 1 diabetes. A world without finger pricks, needles, carb counting, high blood glucose levels or worrying if you're blood glucose will go too low overnight. I am walking across 12 of the London Bridges on the 1st October to support Diabetes UK in that mission. I would be so grateful if you were able to support me.
