We did it.....

On the 4th June I along with 5 other friends climbed the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales - Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon within 24 hours (this included the travel distances between the 3 peaks too).

It all went according to plan until after yet another long drive again we arrived at Snowdown just after 11am. A few of the guys at this point realised they may be able to break 20 hours for the complete challenge. After a confused start (we got separated at the foot of the hill with some of us starting to walk up one path and the others, up another path) our group stretched out with the pace becoming difficult to sustain. The 3 fastest hikers were on course to break 3 hours only for one of them (my brother Gary) to trip and tear open his knee. In typical bloke fashion he felt embarrassed as a rescue helicopter came to air lift him and he ushered it away. He was able to be assisted slightly so that he finished the challenge within 22 hours.

It's no too late still to make a donation to my chosen charity, the Dr Hawden Trust.
