Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year I have foolishly agreed with the rest of our boys book group to walk the 3 Peaks on 4 September, – what have we let ourselves in for? This challenge is a 25 mile circular challenge walk climbing the three highest peaks in Yorkshire - Pen-y-ghent (691m), Whernside (728m), and Ingleborough (723m), all in a 12 hour period. My feet have blisters with just the thought of it.

Anyway, we are 8 youthful (!) individuals who wanted a challenge and most of all to help make a small difference, but for that we need your help too. We are raising money for a charity that supports people with a relatively unknown condition and here is where we need your help.

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks the upper and lower motor neurones. Degeneration of the motor neurones leads to weakness and wasting of muscles, causing increasing loss of mobility in the limbs, and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing. This is often a terminal disease affecting approximately 2 people in 100,000.

This year a dear friend has been diagnosed with MND he is one of the unlucky 2. Howard is in his mid 40’s with a wonderful wife and three young boys to whom he has always been the most devoted father. Life just is not fair! Since his illness was diagnosed he has continued to be very positive and do as much as he can with the boys and you will never hear him moan – well not about having MND.

The MND Association is providing much needed support to Howard and his family, and countless others just like him. They need your support to carry on this great work.

Please help by giving what you can, no matter how much it will make a difference to sufferers like Howard.
