Story
Once a month for the next four months I am running in a Human Race off road event in aid of The Rifles’ Care for Casualties appeal. Each race is between 10-15kms over various military training areas (starting with the soft sand of Hankley Common on 20 November). Just your average Friday morning run in battalion, but tough work for this now somewhat plump and middle-aged chap.Since February 2007 The Rifle have lost 53 men killed, and 290 Riflemen have been seriously injured; these are the most significant losses of any British regiment in recent conflicts. The regimental charity will need to provide significant support for many of these men for the rest of their lives, and they must do this on top of the needs of aging veterans from earlier conflicts. This year we need to raise £1 million, a target which is still a long way off. You can find out more about the appeal at: www.careforcasualties.org.uk Anything you can give will be very gratefully received. Now the practical part: Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they will never sell them on or send unwanted e-mails. Once you donate, they will send your money directly to Care For Casualties and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it's the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for Care For Casualties. Simple as... Thank you for your time and support.
