Ok, final input. We completed Ben Nevis in just over 6 hours. There were a couple of slips coming down, Charlie suffering the worst spill. Fortunately, he only suffered bruising to his body (and pride I think). Charlie retired from the quest after these knocks but a valiant effort was made. Thank you Charlie and all of your friends for the support. So we carried on to Scafell. The weather was fine at Wastwater but we got to altitude and the mist and drizzle came in. Again. Anyway, we scaled it in about 2 1/2 hours. Then came the descent. It started off well. You know, gravity assisting the aching muscles. The further we got down the more tired we got. This time it was me trying to come down on my bum. Thankfully the worst of my injuries was to my thumb. I'm not sure what the diagnosis is but it didn't matter then and it doesn't really matter now. We got back to the car and continued as planned. Arriving in Llanberis, we pulled up in the car park opposite the station. The attendant asked why we were visiting and we explained that this was the last of the three peaks. He flagged us in and said that there was no charge. An extra £6 donation from another total stranger. A quick pit stop and we were off in dry but cloudy weather. That lasted for 20 minutes and the heavens opened. As soon as it started, it stopped again. A little while after, it started again. Still we carried on. We got to the bridge where the railway crosses the path before the half way point to get some shelter and drinks. After a short rest, we started off again and I felt a sharp pain near my groin. Thinking that it was just a twinge we plodded on. The nearer we got to the half way cafe, the less I could lift my leg. I covered the last 100m or so lifting my left leg with my left hand. We got to the cafe and took shelter. Ironically, it was nearing 5pm. 24 hours after we started. Not being in any fit state to carry, we conferred and decided that it was best to turn back. Mr Dewdney, I hasten to add was more than capable of completing the peak but came down too. Nearly 2 hours later, we made the 2 miles back to the road at the bottom of the path where our driver and most valuable team member Mark awaited to carry us off the hotel. Disappointed? Yes. More than I can put into words Proud of my achievement? Of course Perhaps I should have called it the 2 1/2 peak challenge? :-) Thanks to everybody who has shown support. Both Caring Matters Now and me appreciate everything. A special thanks to my wife Kim who has put up with training at meal and family times. Love you lots.

Ben Nevis conguered. It was wet and miserable but ok. Scafell was similar in weather but some breaks in the cloud at lower altitude. We're now en route to Snowdon feeling tired and sore buy high in spirits.
