Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I recently toured the Wolverhampton Wanderers training facilities as part of my membership to the clubs Fans Parliament. During the tour we were all jokingly challenged by the Chief Executive to get into the ice bath in the dressing room. After a few minutes thought I accepted, but only if I was promised a personal sponsorship donation from him to a charity of my choice and he agreed!
So, I am now faced with a slightly chilly experience in aid of Birmingham Children’s Hospital. After a few weeks trying to finalise the details of the event, it is now booked in for TUESDAY 10TH DECEMBER 2013.
The ice bath is used by the players to aid recovery from training and prevent injury. It is around 5 foot deep and is the size of a plunge pool. The temperature of the water is around 8 degrees Celsius, so it’s not exactly ice, but close enough! I have not set a length of time to be in there, but I am willing to stay in as long as it is safe for me to do so if it helps raise more money!
Why BCH? Well, I have a number of close friends who have children that would no longer be with us if it wasn't for BCH. They do amazing work helping children through their darkest times and also help support their families. I have taken part in and attended many events raising funds for them over the years. I have also seen the difference the money can make to the children and their families.
I am aiming to raise £300 in total. Even if all you can donate is £1, with gift aid, that becomes £1.25p and it takes me £1 nearer my target total.
