In support of The Dogs Trust, in February I undertook the challenge of sledding with a team of huskies through northern Lapland. My dogs and I travelled nearly 200 km through the wilderness about 400 km north of the Arctic Circle, together with 9 other members of our team. It was an amazing experience for all of us – not least as the temperatures were at a 30 year low, falling to -41°C at one point! I saw some incredible scenery, local wildlife (including reindeer) and (on the last night) the Northern Lights. We had a few mishaps on the way – not least my sled, dogs and I falling into ice-cold water whilst crossing a frozen lake! – and it was full-on and physically demanding but I had a terrific time and have collected many memories from our adventure. Some of those memories can be seen in the attached photos and also on our YouTube video at www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJHO-0fGuaw (many thanks to Claire for putting this together!).
I have been seeking sponsorship for my trip, for the benefit of The Dogs Trust, the UK’s leading canine welfare charity that cares for more than 15,000 stray and abandoned dogs every year at 17 Rehoming Centres throughout the UK. Dogs that cannot for some reason be rehomed become permanent residents – in short The Dogs Trust NEVER puts down a healthy dog. More information can be found on the website www.dogstrust.org.uk. Please note I have personally paid all of the costs of the trip so EVERY PENNY YOU GIVE WILL BENEFIT THE DOGS TRUST DIRECTLY and (if you are a UK tax payer) your donations can be boosted through the Gift Aid scheme.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now. And thank you on behalf of all the dogs cared for by this marvellous charity!
