Virgin London Marathon 2010 · 25 April 2010 ·

The Mental Health Foundation believe no-one living in the UK should be deprived of the opportunity for good mental health because of who they are, the community they come from or where they live. We’re developing better ways to support good mental health in every community.

Story

**Update my race number is 42578 for those who want to follow my progress on that race tracker thingy**

Last year I was asked if I wanted to run the London marathon as part of a team running for a friends 60th birthday.  I said I would jump at the chance, but "unfortunately" I didn't get a place.  As chief understudy for the team I was looking forward to handing out the isotonic drinks, catching the tube to a pub near the finish and putting my feet up with the Sunday papers and a pint while waiting to cheer the team as they crawled past.

However Amy (to the right of me in the picture above) has unfortunately dropped out and I'm left with a little over 2 months to raise £1,400 and train to run a full twice the distance I've ever run before.  In addition there's the ever present worry of Nicola, Ben or Allan beating me.

So to spur me on please donate what ever you can afford to the mental health foundation.  They are a realy excellent charity which often are overlooked because the issues they deal with are sometimes hard to understand.  However they have been helping those in need for over 60 years and they deserve our support.  I know I am going to donate (well my sister would kill me if she didn't sponsor her!).

Thanks for any money you can afford to give.

Steve

P.S. If / When I get to £1,000 raised a picture of me in a camp running vest will apear on this site!  So you should donate just to embarress me!
