As Shropshire Treasurer of Ride & Stride I must say a huge thank you to those people who have already registered with Just Giving for 12th September, and to any others who do so before the event. In Shropshire last year we raised over £19,000 but we would dearly like to do better this year - so please take a moment to register your support. Half of the money raised comes to the Trust, the other half goes to the church nominated by the cyclist or walker. In my case this is St George's, Pontesbury.
As in previous years I am walking rather than cycling - my ancient bicycle passed away several years ago! I am doing the same route as two years ago but in reverse, starting and finishing at Acton Burnell church and taking in Frodesley, Hughley and Kenley churches and Langley chapel en route. All are lovely places to visit with fine views. Hopefully I can persuade Jackie to meet me somewhere about half way with some lunch. The only disadvantage of my route is that there is no pub!
The Trust gives grants for repairs to churches of all denominations in the county. I'm sure you will agree with me that these lovely buildings are part of our heritage and we must do what we can to assist their congregations to maintain them, particularly in the more remote areas.
