WE DONE IT!!!
What a brilliant event! Mind you, I said training was going well, but actually we were just four blokes going out for an evening jaunt, finishing at a pub. Nothing had prepared us for the speed and endurance expected of us from 7am to 5pm, with 170 miles in between. My bike got rapidly lighter as I shed mudguards, rack, toolkit, lock etc., and Graham, aka Lucky, got the only puncture.
The management and marshalling by the Extra mile, Rotary and Heald organisers was astonishing. We owe them a big 'Thank You'. And also to Volkswagon's HQ near here, who loaned us a very roomy and comfortable 'Transporter Shuttle' for us and our bikes.
The trip was entirely paid for so every penny you donate goes to the charities - 67% to Willen Hospice and the remaining 33% shared by the 'Extra Mile' chosen charities; MK SNAP (Special Needs Advancement Project), The Prostate Cancer Charity and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). All of them are feeling the pinch right now and need your support.
I am keeping donors names anonomous on this page, so you can be as generous as you like without embarrasment!. And if the target is reached that only shows I set it too low! This page will remain open into November.
