<p>The Baptism of my wife, Clare, and my children Louise, Aimee and James was a wonderful day for me and I wanted something special to come out of the celebration. I offered guests the option of making a charitable donantion rather than gifts for the children.</p>
<p>Like any parent I feel that my children are unique and wonderful, as indeed are all children. He sends a baby and then...He waits</span></strong></span><span style="line-height: 115%; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 11pt; mso-ascii-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family: Arial; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-bidi; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;"><span style="color: #0000ff;">.”</span> That traditional blessing powerfully conveys the infinite possibilities that every child brings and our duty as parents is to make anything possible, to nurture and protect, but at the same time to allow our children to grow as individuals </span>It also suggests that greatness is within every child so not even divine intervention is required to allow that seed to blossom and flourish.</p>
<p>Our children are lucky that they have been born into a secure happy family, where they will find the support that they need, but not all children are so blessed.The work of Education for LIfe provides immediate and tangible support for orphaned and abandoned children in Kenya, which at this moment is suffering from a horrendous drought. I am happy that our Christening Day might also be of real benefit in providing the support that those children need to grow and become "special".
