My story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I will be running my first ever marathon in the Virgin London Marathon on 22 Apr 12 and it is by far the biggest challenge that I have undertaken to date.

I am raising funds for the Deaf Education through Listening and Talking (DELTA) Charity, which is a national charity supporting deaf children, their families and practitioners who wish to follow an auditory oral route, from birth, through education and beyond.

I have been inspired by a fellow Parkrun runner who, at 70 years of age, has completed numerous London Marathons.  John and his family are heavily involved in DELTA's work of supporting and developing the Natural Aural Approach to the education of deaf children.  Please do visit the website at www.deafeducation.org.uk to see what work DELTA has been up to recently.

Your donations will go towards helping deaf children to learn to listen and talk, giving them access to the same opportunities as their hearing peers and helping them to experience life without social and education exclusion.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Please help me reach my targets by donating what you can.

Thanks,

Steve

Charity Registration No. 1115603

DELTA believes that the vast majority of deaf children can learn to listen and talk and that all parents of deaf children should be given this option. It's aim is to promote the education of hearing imparied children through the use of their residual hearing capacity and through the development of a naturally spoken language.
