Registered in 1994, CHIN-UP is a local charity established to relieve children and young people suffering from a progressive or terminal illness.

Thanks to the generosity of thousands of people, they have been able to purchase and operate a holiday home in Seahouses, Northumberland. This half-way house, which opened in March 2006, now provides much needed, free holiday breaks and respite care for families.

‘Jonathan’s House’, as it is known, lies in peaceful surroundings that are near to all the traditional seaside amenities that families love and enjoy.

CHIN-UP requires help and support to maintain and run this residence throughout the year.

My aim is to raise £2,000 by competing in the:

            MARATHON OF THE NORTH

·         Sunderland Stadium of Light

·         Sunday 28 April 2013

·         Distance 26.2 miles

This amount will maintain ‘Jonathan’s House’ for a further 3 months.

I would be most grateful if you could sponsor me and offer assistance to this worthy charity.

14 ‘Great North Runs’ (13.1 miles) and numerous 10k road races (6.2 miles) have been put in a ‘box of past successes,’ and a new goal has emerged.

My first ever marathon! (the clock is ticking – 56 years young in December).

Why ‘chin-up’ – having supported the charity previously, I found their stories of hope, stories of loss and stories of overcoming the odds, to be both emotional and inspirational.

26.2 miles? – Yes, I’ll make it!

Best wishes,

Steve
