My story

Hello and Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page. First thing I have to say is a great big THANKYOU to everyone of you who have sponsored me either through this JustGiving page or by filling in my Sponsor form in the old fashioned way.

Less than a week to go.....5 days in fact, the trainings done, I can do no more... well that's not strictly true, I can eat well, sleep well (nerves permitting) and keep well. Then all I have to do is turn up on the day and run 26.2miles!!!! Doesn't sound too bad until you put it in print!

I'm looking forward to the day, the weather forecast looks perfect, I have a brilliant pacer / running partner Nigel Rothery who will keep me on the pace and rein me in when I start going too quickly!

GOOD LUCK NIGEL! Nigel's running for The Meningitis Trust and is well on the way to beating his fundraising target.

Please keep

Week 11 of my Marathon Training.

Just completed the "Trimpell 20" this weekend. Very pleased with the result. 2:31:40 for my first 20 mile road race.

Training is going to plan, Fund raising isn't. Funny how we all concentrate on doing the things we enjoy rather than the things we don't? In my case i much prefer the running to the Fundraising.

The latest picture shows me and my "Marathon Pacer" running side by side in the Trimpell 20. Nigel is running the London for the 1st time as well. He's running and supporting the Meningitis Trust

How the heck did i get roped into this one then?......Well, for those of you who know me, I have been a sometime "Fell Runner" for a few years now, mainly local stuff, but I have completed a few "biggies". Namely the "Haworth Hobble" 33 miles of unforgiving moorland and gritstone paths and tracks. "The 3 Peaks" Fell Race, Penyghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, thats only 24 miles!

Anyhow, upto now its always been off road and always just for fun? But, as most Fellrunners know, there is always the "I wonder how my 3 Peaks time would compare with a road Marathon time?"

As some of you know ISS have a relationship with the British Heart Foundation and i saw the email asking for volunters and ignored it. Someone must have dropped out and out went the call for the one remaining place.......The rest as they say "Is History"
