We provide help and hope to everyone living with dementia.

Story

It is said that great people do great things. Equally, mentally unhinged people do stupid things. However sometimes the latter results in something great as well. This is one of those times.

The task? A 45 mile run to cover the locations of the monopoly board ,in order, all within a day.

The cause? With the help of a select group of people with the same stability of mind, we plan to raise money and awareness for the Alzheimers society and Canine Partners - two charities close to the hearts of the event organisers and derserved of a healthy donation.

Why us? I'm aware just giving pages seem to pop up left, right and centre these days and if you gave to every one, you might only be left with monopoly money, but this isn't one of those pages created for an excuse to go on holiday around the world. I hate running. It's not fun, it hurts after about 100m and just gets worse and worse. So if you'd like to sponsor me for a day of suffering, please do.

You can follow all the build up on Facebook if you search for The Monopoly Run 2011. Also, there will be live coverage of the day with photo updates on Twitter on the page '@Monopoly_Run_11'.

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.
