Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am a family man with a busy job, a dodgy knee and a pacemaker.  I have in the past (20 years ago!!) done short distance triathlons and cycling for fitness.   Last year I did 6 days in the Pyrenees - unfortunately I came off face first and it was goodbye to my front teeth and my first day in the mountains!! Why - your asking would I chose a bike ride -

Being Captain of The Dorset Golf and Country Club is an honour; and raising money for this wonderful charity is another.  When Julia’s House was suggested to me as the Captains Charity for 2011, I did not know very much about the work they did.  After visiting the Hospice it really touched the hearts of my wife and I.  The children and families it helps by love, care and understanding making the short lives of these children memorable, whilst also creating memories for their families to remember, shows a compassion beyond words.

When I was considering ways to raise funds I really wanted to do a ride from Lands End to John O'Groats, but this did not give me a golf connection, so the Ryder Cup Cycle was born.  The ride will start at Came Down Golf Club, Dorset (birthplace of the Ryder Cup),  on Saturday 13th August 2011 - from there I am visiting all the mainland UK venues where the competition has been played, covering over 1100miles and ending at Muirfield Golf Club in Scotland on 'hopefully' Tuesday 23rd August 2011. I am hoping to be able to cover 120 miles a day.

I want to try to do this ride so all that all the valuable donations go straight to Julia’s House, so I am taking a man, a van and a bike perhaps with the odd free night in a bed occasionally on the way!!
