I achieved it !! 9hr 25min in the heat of last Wednesday. Thanks to all who have donated so far......
Thanks for getting this far ....
At the age of 40 I decided that I wanted to set myself a challenge, 3 years later it's time to do it.
I have always enjoyed watching the Tour de France and have hankered after trying one of the "big climbs" I had not bargained on a swim before and a run after though!
The Alpe d'Huez triathlon take place at the end of July and consists of a 2.2km open water swim, a 115km ride finishing with the climb of d'Huez (13.8km with 21 switchbacks and an average gradient of 8.1%) and then a half marathon to finish (21km).
Now May has arrived and training intensity goes up a notch. As well as doing it for myself I have also decided to raise as much money as possible for the Acorns hospice for Children.
I am very lucky to be the proud Dad of 4 healthy children, something I take for granted too often. The Acorns Children's Hospice currently cares for over 600 life limited children and their families in the region. Acorns specialist nursing and support services provide a vital lifeline for these families who would face a much tougher challenge coping alone.

Thanks very much, I really appreciate it.
