Steve Briscoe, aged 53, who died on 19th January 2011 after a short illness, had been a much-respected Head of Fundraising at the Variety Club Children’s Charity and, before that, at the WRVS, Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity and Age Concern. Prior to this, Steve was a Corporate Account Director for nine years at the NSPCC.
Steve was born in Liverpool. He enjoyed a successful career in the retail trade and advertising before making the move into charity fundraising where he successfully employed the skills obtained in the commercial world to become one of the industry’s finest corporate fundraisers. During his time in the Not for Profit sector, Steve made many lifelong friends who all appreciated that he always put the charity and his colleagues at the forefront of his decision making.
He joined Variety Club in 2009 where he immediately made his mark, recruiting a small, dedicated fundraising team, helping to double the fundraising income of the charity in just two years and putting fundraising on a professional and sound footing.
Steve will be hugely missed for his endless support, guidance, natural leadership as well as for his wonderful sense of humour.
He leaves behind his wife Minoo and three young children, Ben aged 11, Lauren aged 7 and Jack aged 16 months.
In memory of the considerable contribution made by Steve to the Variety Club, the charity is fundraising for a Sunshine Coach to be presented in his name to a school in Liverpool.
