SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED - MANY THANKS TO ALL MY SPONSORS AND SUPPORTERS!
Hi there!
I'm taking part in a to cycle ride but, to make it a little more interesting, this one is for folding bikes. Yes, everyone going will be riding a folding bike! I've got a Brompton folding bike that I keep in the boot of my car so I can cycle at lunchtimes (rather than driving out for a sandwich) and have enjoyed it so much I thought it would be interesting to try it on a slightly longer run....
I'm riding to raise funds for Scope. Scope is a charity that helps people with disabilities, particularly cerebral palsy (cp). cp is a condition that arises when parts of the brain, eg those which control the muscles and certain body movements, do not work properly. This is generally due to those parts of the brain not forming properly. The condition does not deteriorate (although the symptoms may vary) but is incurable.
I am contributing the first half of the minimum sponsership required so ALL donations from others will go to the charity. If you Gift Aid it, Just Giving will also recover lower rate tax on it and will pass this to the charity as well (less a small amount to finance their services).
I've been using the Brompton on more rides and have been trying to get some miles in - not easy to find the time!. I've done one or two longer rides (30-45 miles) but still need to get up to 60 miles in a day. Longer distances are definitely harder than on a full-size bike but I'm making progress..... see the video above for some of my efforts.
For those who know that I also have an electric bike - please note that the Brompton is 100% human-powered!
Many thanks - your support will help those who are not able to do something as simple as ride a bike.

PS Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a taxpayer.
PPS Don't put it off until later - click on the donate button and follow the simple instructions - lots of small donations add up to enough to make a real difference! I only need a total of £200 (plus the tax recovered) to reach the target - please help me get there. Every donation is one step closer!
