Story

So the Question or paragraph that everyone hates “ the Who Am I Question”

I am just a normal guy who at times sees the world differently.  In one of my businesses, some people say I make small differences to people and businesses lives.  I know why this is, because I coach people to be much more than they are today - my life is about people. I love people and always see more potential in them than they see in themselves.  It always starts with me asking a question initially “ Could you do more today?”  Like the question I ask my clients, I ask myself "what else could you do to make a difference?”

For me it’s simply wanting make the world a better place and helping people where and when I can.  It sounds cheesy but sorry, it’s a greater feeling living your life this way - for me anyway.
Let me give you an example.  I was 12 years old, I had 9 jobs all at the one time at a young age.  It was a Sunday morning and I had 2 paper rounds.  As I chapped my 1st door this old lady came to the door and I knew instantly through many indicators that something was wrong.  I handed over the paper and walked away, but then went back to the door and chapped it again.  The old lady answered and I asked, “Can I ask you what’s wrong?” The response was, “ Son I have no milk or bread and the shops are 1 mile away” I asked” Can you look after my bag?” I ran to shops and came back 20 minutes later with a bag of shopping.  The old lady opened the door and was glowing, absolutely glowing with joy and happiness over milk and bread.
As I left the door I cannot explain how I felt at that moment in my life, but all I knew was that I wanted to feel like that every single minute of every day - so from the age of 12 I have helped thousands of people for no reason - simply because I know I can……………….. its like I can feel my heart beating and have a feeling in my body I just cannot explain, its comes from helping people for no reason.

When I made the decision to do the marathon  it had to scare me.  This one does, the 3rd hardest marathon in the world, and for a guy who has never ran and who does not like running much, putting myself in this position then putting it public is a strategy I have, but one I know helps me grow as a person.  My strategy in life has always been to announce a challenge that really does something to me within my body, heart and mind when I even think about it.
Last year I led an event in Windsor castle for 3 days with leaders of businesses to personal discover themselves, it’s about challenging myself I think, it has to be big scale and like the castle this wall is big scale you can see it from space.

When I was self-talking to myself about the marathon I kept hearing people talk about “Finding Your Feet” and” Corrie”. You see, some of my friends are Iron Men athletes and when I was sitting with a friend  having a coffee who mentioned the charity again it was like time stopped, you know when you hear something so many times you just stop and ask is someone giving you a message.
So when I looked at the website and the blogs it touched me beyond words - sorry I just cannot explain it, I read Davy's blog - Corries brother - I was in tears, I felt I was on his shoulder when reading the blog in real time, honestly I just cannot explain. I just sat and thought when I complete marathon I can look back and say “ Eh I did that” but to be permitted to run for such an inspiring charity and human being and raise some money, its simply humbling - and one I take on, as I train just now which is a rigorous 5 month training schedule, I often think of Corrie's journey and a voice comes through telling “You can do this!”
When I met Corrie and sat with her for an hour I knew instantly I want to do something, I hope I do not let you down Corrie, for me it’s to train to have the right to be at starting line and get to the finishing line. And you know what, when I read on the website that Corrie had cycled the great wall, I just laughed out loud and said “ No Way” what I am asked to do is nothing against cycling the wall!

Bring on May, hope I can do you at the charity proud……

Thank you,

Stevie Kidd
