Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page. I have just walked the 500 mile Camino to Santiago in Spain to raise money for Leonard Cheshire Disability.

Thirty years ago, when visiting Santiago de Compostela in Northern Spain, I determined to return one day on foot as pilgrims have done since the middle ages.

Now aged 66 I had the time, two good friends who were brave enough to walk with me and the added motivation of fundraising for a wonderful cause.

Leonard Cheshire Disability, of which I have the privilege to be Vice Chairman, provides support, ranging from residential care, through supported living to educational and employment  services to some 21,000 people each year in the UK. Internationally we work in a global alliance in 55 countries with a particular emphasis on inclusiveness and education.

In May of this year, with friends Christopher and Peter, I started the walk. Mark you I nearly didn't make it because just eight weeks before our departure date, after months of training, I seriously injured my hip in a skiing accident and was on crutches for the next five weeks! But, after three final weeks of frantic training, we finally set out from St Jean Pied de Port on the French side of the Pyrenees and, 18 days and 250 miles of hard slogging later, we reached our half way point just short of Leon and returned to the UK. On September 18th we made our way back to Leon and set out again to complete our journey walking a further 250 miles, arriving, wet but triumphant, in Santiago de Compostela on October 5th!

Please help Leonard Cheshire Disability to help disabled people all over the world to live more fulfilling lives by giving generously.
