Project Tshela · 19 March 2016

Our life-changing research can fight diseases, tackle global challenges and change society. At Nottingham, students from all backgrounds can achieve extraordinary things, in and out of the classroom. But talent needs a catalyst. You can shape the future and help make the incredible happen, every day

Story

I am a 2nd year student at the University of Nottingham studying Architecture and Environmental Design. Our current project allows us the opportunity to design a Crèche for a rural village in Limpopo, South Africa. In Easter 2016 we'll be able to see that vision become a reality; by fundraising enough money we'll be able go and build the Crèche.

Mokomotsie Village in South Africa is very underprivileged and experiences a lot of unemployment due to the lack of opportunities. Their current teaching arrangements are inadequate for their needs, 50 children are crammed into a single room, concrete shelter. We want to be able to give something to the community to allow children a better quality of life and education.

The £1000 raised by each student in the team will go solely towards the materials and equipment used for the project; accommodation, flights and other costs will all be funded personally.
