Thanks for taking the time to visit the Team StreetChance JustGiving page set up by Richard Joyce.
'StreetChance supported by Barclays Spaces for Sport' is a Cricket Foundation project that has been running in London since 2008, using cricket to engage young people in areas affected by youth crime and anti-social behaviour.
Following on from the success of the London project, Cricket Foundation and Barclays Spaces for Sports launched the project nationwide in 2011, rolling the programme out nationally to a further 6 cities over the next 3 years, as well as continuing to develop the programme in London.
In order to fully realise our ambition, we need to pull in extra funding. StreetChance is all about working in partnership, with Cricket Foundation and Barclays Spaces for Sports working with the Metropolitan Police Service, Cricket for Change, and 9 County Cricket Boards to deliver the project moving forwards.
Inspired by the idea of working in partnership to run the projects across 7 cities, Richard came up with the idea of literally running all 7 cities and has pulled together a team of runners to run charity races in each of the cities to raise money for StreetChance.
Over the 13 months from September 2011 to October 2012, Team StreetChance will be running a charity race in each of the cities where StreetChance will be running. This will take in one 10k race, 5 half marathons, and 1 full marathon. Or, to put it another way, 97.9 miles (or 157.5 km) across 7 cities in 13 months.
Richard Joyce and Ben Joyce are aiming to run the full 97.9 miles, running a race in each of the cities, and will be joined on the various 7 legs by willing runners from Cricket Foundation including Tim Mathias and Tom Love, who are running a Half Marathon each in their areas.
More Team Members TBC, and the fundraising target will be adjusted accordingly!
The plan is as follows:
1. Bristol Half Marathon – September 11 2011 - Done!
2. Great Birmingham Run, Half Marathon – October 23 2011 - Done!
3. Leeds Half Marathon (for Dewsbury project) – May 13 2012
4. Great Manchester Run, 10k – May 20 2012
5. Humber Bridge Half Marathon (Hull) – June 24 2012
6. Ealing Half Marathon (London) – September 30 2012
7. Liverpool Marathon – October 14 2012
You can sponsor us in any way you like – trust us to do it and sponsor the team all in one go, or sponsor us by the city and do it for each race.
Donations for all members of the team go through this same page.
We have had some fantastic outcomes for young people across London, and we plan to have a positive impact on the lives of thousands more in some of the most deprived inner-city areas in the country – with your help we can make that happen.
So please dig deep and donate now.
