Strictly Transplant · 27 February 2010

We want to ensure that every patient at Addenbrooke's and the Rosie hospitals experiences the highest quality of care available. We raise funds for cutting edge technology, additional specialist staff and extra comforts for patients, over and above what is possible with NHS funding alone.

Story

Thank you for visiting our Just Giving page!

We all work in the transplant unit at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge and are aiming to raise funds to purchase a new state-of-the-art ultrasound machine for the transplant unit (at a cost of £25,210.50). Since the unit began, over 2,500 patients have received a new kidney, nearly 2,000 a new liver and around 100 a combined kidney-pancreas transplant.  All of these patients require at least one ultrasound as part of their transplant care, so you can see how vital a piece of equipment it is!

As part of the fundraising appeal, on February 27th 2010, Addenbrooke’s Transplant Department will host a charity dinner dance in Cambridge quite unlike any other (see website: www.strictlytransplant.co.uk for more information). Inspired by the likes of Mark Ramprakash, Alesha Dixon and Chris Hollins, we decided to hold a dance competition in the “Strictly” style. Our renal physicians have challenged the transplant surgical team to a heated competition and will dance the waltz, tango, cha-cha-cha and salsa with the hope of lighting up the dance floor, providing entertainment for everyone and raising money for this important charity cause.

Please scroll through the picture gallery to see how much fun we're having practising!!!

We very much hope that some of you will be able to attend the event on 27th February but for those of you further afield who would like to make a donation towards our appeal, we would very much appreciate any contributions. Any money raised in excess of the funds required for this appeal will be allocated to where the need is greatest.

Transplantation continues to change lives for the better every day. Please help us to improve our service by supporting this exciting event and celebrating in style the work done by Addenbrooke’s Transplant Department.
