My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

IT I SLIKELY THAT THE SWIM WILL BE SHORTENED OWING TO THE WEATHER AND TEMP OF THE LAKE. IF YOU WISH TO CHANGE YOUR DONATION LET ME KNOW. WE ARE LIKLEY TO BE ABL EONLY TO SWIM FROM BOWNESS TO AMBLESIDE. THATS STILL 5 MILES, AND SOME OF THE WAY BACK, POTENTIALLY 7 MILES TOTAL. ADVICE FROM TOP SWIMMERS IS AGAINST DOING THE 10.5 MILES IN THIS TEMP.

This swim is a race between myself and Mr Tohomas Noblet the acclaimed Hotelier and long distance swimmer. Our race is the Length of Windermere. Nothing more nothing less. No wetsuits. Its in aid of the Blue Lamp Foundation set up by David Rathband, a hero in anyones book. Please support it in anyway you can

My updates 5

If anyone wishes to change their donation as a result I will find a way to facilitate that. However as a head of a public body safety must come first. Advice is from far better swimmers than I. Hope you understand. Thanks for the lovely comments

At least 3 Channel swimmers have indicated that the 10 miles in this temp will be dangerous without wetsuits. We want to remain under Long Distance rules so are planning a shorter run, with a swim back will get to nearly 8 miles.

28/06/12 09:39

We have been advised against swimming the whole length of Windermere as the temp of the Lake has gone down to 12. As such we are looking at a swim from Bowness. Plans will be confirmed tonight.

I did the Great North swim yesterday and made the mistake of NOT greasing up my neck an dalso not getting the wetsuit ready. Most swims have been without it. As a result I am now a Redneck. Hopefully will go by Saturday. Not fast but beat my target time

This swim will be a tough one. It's about 10 miles long and will be the longest time and distance for me in water. It's for an excellent cause celebrating the life of a remarkable man.
