My story

Hey all

As some of you may know I have signed up to do the London marathon in April this year. I have also decided that I want to use this opportunity to raise money and awareness for a cause that is very close to my heart (and I’m sure yours too!). 2011 saw a record number of rhinos poached (443 in South Africa alone!!!) with two sub-species having been declared extinct - the Vietnamese Javan Rhino and the Western Black Rhino. I’m sure that I’m not alone in saying that this senseless killing of these beautiful animals is disgraceful and has to be brought to an end before it’s too late!

I have chosen Save the Rhino International as my charity - It is a UK based charity that works to conserve populations of critically endangered rhinoceros species in the wild. Their aim is to increase rhino numbers by providing financial and in-kind support for rhino projects and for community-based initiatives across Africa and Asia.

I have pledged to raise £1500 (c. R19,000) for the charity and would really appreciate your help here with any donations however big or small. You can make donations (from anywhere in the world!) securely via the following web page http://www.justgiving.com/StuM-Save-the-Rhino and funds will go directly to the charity. Thanks in advance for your help – hopefully together we can all make a small difference!

Please also forward this on to anyone else you think may be willing to help.
