Hello!
To help keep alive the memory of Lt John Thornton RM I am competing in two endurance events this year in order to raise funds for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation. For those who don't know, this is a very worthy charity that awards bursaries to aspiring youngsters to help them achieve their dreams and ambitions. The first event was the Virgin London Marathon on the 17th April 2011, which was my first ever marathon. This went really well, finishing in a time of 3h39.16
But the real event will be on the 31st July, when I will compete in Ironman UK in Bolton. This is a long distance triathlon, comprising of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle and finally a 26.2 mile run, all within the 17 hour time limit. This will be a very long day, having only competed at half Iron distances so far.
