As most of you are probably aware, my friends, Stuart & Suzanne Hannell have a daughter, Nieve, who was born prematurely in August 2009. They feel that they owe her life to the wonderful care and dedication of the staff at Forth Park Neo-Natal ward. Another friend of mine, Peter Westbrook's and his wife Gill's, second son Lewis also spent time in the ward in October 2009 and I know Pete also praises the staff. In this day and age we take many things such as the NHS for granted. I was staggered to discover just how much units like Forth Park NNU rely on donations to buy life saving items of equipment, and more importantly to maintain that equipment. It's amazing how many people are affected by NNU wards throughout the country and fellow friends Dave Kilgour and Craig Fleming have also had their own NNU experiences recently, fortunately with happy endings.
So, to the challenge. There are 7 golf courses on the Island of Arran totalling 93 holes. I will be joined by Pete Westbrook, Stuart Hannell and Craig Reekie on Friday 17th June as we attempt to play all 93 holes in a single day starting at Brodick GC at 4am and finishing (hopefully) at Shiskine GC at around 10pm. The length of the holes alone is over 16 miles and we will be carrying our bags every step of the way.
Whilst we will never be able to repay Forth Park for everything that they have given my friends, and their families I would appreciate it immensely if you could spare a few pounds to support us on our challenge and allow future generations to have the chance of life and receive the same level of care that we all take for granted. The link below will take you to our Just Giving page.
So please dig deep and donate now.
