Homeless World Cup - Football Box · 23 December 2011 ·

The Homeless World Cup Foundation is a unique, pioneering charity which uses football to inspire homeless people to change their own lives. We support grassroots football programmes and social enterprise development through a network of more than 70 Street Football Partners. We provide a focus for—and celebration of—their year-round activity by organising and delivering an annual, world-class, international football tournament for national teams of men and women who are homeless. Since 2001, we have been committed to “changing the lives of people who are homeless through football.” Today, the work of our movement is varied and extensive - from building awareness about homelessness and raising funds for our activities, to organising our annual Homeless World Cup tournament. The Homeless World Cup Tournament is our flagship event. Delivered by the Homeless World Cup Foundation in co-ordination with a Local Organising Committee, the event brings together teams from all around the world for an inspiring week-long festival of football. Participating teams are managed by our Street Football Partners and are formed by men and women all of whom have experienced homelessness.

Story

Hi Guys,

Thanks for taking the time to look at my page.

I’m trying to raise £2,120 to take part in this year’s Homeless World Cup. This money funds one homeless person’s participation in the cup and hopefully will help them onto the road to a better life.

The Homeless World Cup which takes place in Paris from 21 - 28 August 2011 is a unique, pioneering social enterprise which exists to end homelessness. It uses football to energise homeless people to change their lives

My role as a volunteer would be working within the Sports team to ensure that all aspects of the football at the event run smoothly. The Sports team has responsibilty for the scheduling of the games:liasing with the referees, coaches and players, ensuring that all pitches and facilities are prepared: available and managed every day: team registrations:reporting results and scoring of the games.

As you know, I love sport and I love helping people, so if you could dig deep and donate a few pennies or a couple of pound that would be great.

Homeless footballers from 64 countries are due to meet up in Paris in August and this is a football tournament that even Scotland, England, Ireland or Wales could win!

Thanks so much for your support.
