Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This summer I will be cycling from Edinburgh to London raising money for Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA),  a non-profit organization working for the rights of children in the Middle East:
http://www.mecaforpeace.org/about

MECA support children and families in Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon through:

  • Direct aid including food, medicine, medical supplies, and clothes as well as books, toys and school supplies. Since 1988, they have sent more than £20 million in aid to children in Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon
  • Financial support and professional assistance to community organisations in the West Bank and Gaza that help meet Palestinian children’s needs, including clinics, kindergartens, counselling centres, libraries; accessible parks and playgrounds; sports teams, and dance, music and art programmes
  • Educational and cultural programmes to increase understanding about the lives of children in the Middle East and the impact of foreign policy on people in the region
  • University scholarships for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank
  • Providing clean water to children in Palestine by installing water purification and desalination units in schools and kindergartens in the Gaza Strip

The cycle ride has been endorsed by people from film and TV (Ken Loach, Ricky Tomlinson, Maxine Peake), politics (Jeremy Corbyn Labour MP for Islington North, Crispin Blunt, Conservative MP for Reigate) as well as activists from Jews for Justice in Palestine, Stop the War Coalition and LGBT, and many, many more: http://www.redspokes.co.uk/thebigride/endorsers.php?hc_location=ufi
