Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As some of you may know, I am heading to Peru in September for voluntary work. I will be working as part of a medical project on a boat called the Amazon Hope, through a charity called the Vine Trust.

The project provides primary healthcare to remote communities along the Amazon River. Many of the communities in the Amazon are inaccessible by road and therefore have little or no access to healthcare provision.

I need to help raise funds for the charity in order to go on this trip, so I need your generous donations!! The money raised will go solely to the medical project for equipment/running costs etc, and will not be used for my own personal expenses.

So.... In order to try and prise your hard earned cash from you I have dreamt up and successfully executed a rather harebrained scheme to hopefully attract donations.

Starting on the evening of the 17th July, 2010, I attempted to walk/run up each of the highest mountain in each province of Ireland, all in the space of 24 hours.

Overall, this amounted to a fairly substantial walk totalling 43km with a total vertical ascent of 3420m. Not to mention the 800 miles of driving in between! (don't worry, someone else was at the wheel).

So we made it in one piece and manged to make it to the top of the last peak at 23 hours and 59 minutes after starting the first. See the video attached for the evidence... (it actually works better if you click on the youtube link)

Thank you to everyone who has donated - your money is much appreciated and will make help bring something we take for granted every day- ie basic medical care - to the remote communities of Amazonia.

If any of you have managed to find your way here and haven't yet donated then it's not too late!

Thank you again to everyone for your very kind donations.

(Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity).
