Event: Edinburgh Marathon and Team Relay 2010, on 23 May 2010

Story

Hello, and welcome to my justgiving page. My name is Stuart Probert, and on Sunday the 23rd 2010

I completed the Edinburgh Marathon. My time was a total of 3 hours, 46 minutes and 38 seconds for the full marathon!

I am very greatful for the support I have received so far, which will go to the worthwhile cause of the ExHale programme at Camphill Medical Practice Ltd. However, we have not yet reached our target, so any more donations would be kindly accepted with much gratitude!

You can read all about the marathon and see more pictures at http://www.marathon-photos.com/scripts/buy.py?event=Sports/CPUK/2010/Edinburgh%20Marathon&photo=EDOJ1135&bib=4975&match=4975. My tracking number was 4975!

I was inspired to run after reading about Sri Chimroy, an influential lifelong runner who said “Run and Become. Become and Run. Run to succeed in the outer world. Become to proceed in the inner world.” These words encouraged me to run, and since then I have continued achieving my goals. I have completed 8 marathons, including in October 2009 and in May 2009. I have also ran 10 half marathons including in September 2009. My aim is to cover over 100 miles a month whilst training for the event. Nearer the event I will be issued with a race number. I will update the page when I know this number in case anybody would like to meet and greet me on the day of the race.

Hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, is a health condition which affects at least 12% of the Scottish population. This condition leads to a heightened risk of stroke and cardiovascular disease, alongside uncertainty and worries, possible loss of control over oneself, feelings of despair and reduced self image.

The ExHale programme is delivered jointly by Camphill Medical Practice NHS and Camphill Medical Practice Ltd, which is the charity side of the organisation. The programme offers powerful tools to help strengthen your sense of self and control over your life in a holistic, non invasive way. Camphill Medical Practice conducted a pilot study to test the benefits of the programme, with results showing an overall reduction in blood pressure. As well as this, other benefits shown included reduced stress and anxiety levels and a greater ability to help oneself and be in charge.

The ExHale project is not funded by the NHS and so it relies on patient contributions and fundraising/donations to offset the running costs. To date, they have had a number of people benefit from the programme. They are extending the research from the pilot study and so finding the funds for the project is now essential.

This is why I would welcome your support as I run the marathon. I can be contacted at s.probart@hazlewood.aberdeen.sch.uk. If you require any more information about the ExHale programme at Camphill Medical Practice, you can contact admin@camphillmedical.org.uk for this. Thank you for taking the time to visit my page, any donations would be kindly accepted.
