Story
In September 2006, I visited Mozambique to see the work that Samaritan's Purse are doing there, providing help to some of the world's poorest people and supporting those orphaned by or suffering with AIDS. I was particularly impacted by the lack of access to clean drinking water - 20% of children die before their 5th birthday as a result of waterborne diseases. Yet, for the price of meal out - £40 - a water filter can be provided which purifies water for an entire household for 25 years.
To raise money for these filters, I'm proposing to run the Dublin City Marathon on 25th October 2010 (not Belfast in May, as illness disrupted my training!). My target for this year is £5000; enough for 125 filters! It would make all those training miles more tolerable if you'd consider sponsoring me. Any and all donations would be much appreciated but why not consider donating enough for a filter through this site?? If you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be automatically added by the Chancellor, at no cost to you, meaning you only need to fork out £31.25. The money goes directly and securely to Samaritans' Purse.
Thanks for your support.
Stuart
