I lost my daughter Rebecca (Becci) to Cystic Fibrosis on 10th June 2009; she was aged 27 years. She was my world and I miss her so much  and though it’s now nearly 7 years since she passed away, it still hurts every day. Since losing Becci I need a focus and I take on a personal challenge each June to mark her anniversary and raise awareness and funds to find a desperately needed cure for Cystic Fibrosis. This year it’s time for another physical challenge because for anyone having to live with cystic fibrosis,daily life is an enormous physical and tiring challenge.  So the 2016 challenge is a Triathlon on June 12^th at Roundhay Park in Leeds and I’ll be joined by Paula Craven, Emma McMichael and Clare Merrick. These ladies are friends of mine and Becci’s and they have kindly agreed to join me and raise funds and awareness for CF in Becci’s memory. The Triathlon consists of 400m swim in Roundhay park Lake, 15K bike ride and 2.5k run.  

Cystic Fibrosis is the most commonly inherited genetic illness mainly affecting the lungs and digestion. Continuous treatments required to keep the illness stable eventually has an effect on the liver, kidneys, bones and pancreas; in fact it becomes a multi organ illness. There is no cure and although life expectancy is now 41 only 50% of sufferers will reach that age, the median age of death is 27 and each week two young lives will still be lost to it and five babies born with it.   Please sponsor us and help us find better treatments and ultimately a cure for cystic fibrosis. My aim in life with the help of my friends is to try and stop other family's having to deal with the devastation losing a child brings to your life. We can't do anything medical but we can help provide money to fund the wonderful scientists who work tirelessly to find a cure. Becci dealt with her illness with grit, determination, courage and a never say die attitude. She was my inspiration when she was here and she still is now and if I can help in finding a cure I’ll feel my lovely young courageous daughter hasn't died in vain.
