Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In July of last year, my Sister in Law, Sue, sadly died from liver, bowel and colon cancer, 14 weeks and 2 days from having a simple pain in her back, and on her birthday as well. She was only 42, and leaves a husband; my brother, and a young family, Amy and William.
In April of this year, my son Mark and I are joining 130 other cyclist to take on the London to Paris cycle challenge, all 314 miles of it. He is raising money for "Beat Bowel Cancer, I for the Helen Rollason Appeal. This will be as serious a test of our fitness, resolve and probably sanity, we have ever done, and I'm 60 this year as well !!!. Mark is a fit 25 year old and an expert at CPR so the ride into Paris will happen. We need to raise £1400 each, most of it by 25th January 2012. We have already started our fundraising activities...and training.
To loose a loved one at any age is very sad, to loose one so young, and with so much to look forward to, is tragic. There are so many calls on our money in these difficult times and so many charities trying to do their bit, but this is a very worthy cause. One day, who knows, a little contribution now may eventually find out why these things happen and be able to stop them, and their consequences.
Why are we doing this...well I suppose it's simply because, at the moment, we can and so many others can't....
I Thank You in anticipation of your support on behalf of the Helen Rollason Appeal, my brother and his family and all those who are going through the pain and trauma that we went through during 2011. So please dig deep and donate now.
THANK YOU
