Yorkshire three peaks 2014 · 14 June 2014 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm taking part in this challenging one day hike with my friend Gill to tackle the three highest peaks in Yorkshire. This tough 25 mile route will see us reach the summits of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. It takes place on 14th June. Each of the three peaks is about 3-4 times higher than Shutlingsloe in Macclesfield, which Gill and I have been training on, so it will be a real personal challenge for us both physically, mentally and emotionally. Depending on our fitness levels the challenge will see us walking for between 8 and 11 hours.
The aim of this event is to raise £40,000 from all participants. Macmillan wants to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer. They are the nurses helping people through treatment. The experts on the end of the phone. The advisers telling people which benefits they are entitled to. The volunteers giving people a hand with the everyday things The campaigners pushing for better cancer care. The fundraisers who make it all possible. They count on our support to fund 99% of their services. It's thanks to the efforts and generosity of people like you that Macmillan are there for people during the toughest fight of their lives.
38p could pay for a copy of Macmillan's 'Emotional effects of cancer' booklet.
Every £10 Macmillan spends on its phone service could lead to cancer support specialists helping people affected by cancer claim £332 in benefits they are entitled to.
£25 could pay for someone to get help from the Macmillan Support Line.
£56 could pay for a Macmillan Grant that buys a liquidiser for someone who can't eat solid food as a result of cancer treatment.
£350 could pay for a much needed convalescent break for someone with cancer and their carer.
£918 could fund a Macmillan nurse for a working week.
