UPDATE 24/09/10

JOIN ME IN BECOMING A FRIEND OF KIDSCAPE - read below to find out how.

Sponsor money has now been counted and paid in and I am pleased to say that I smashed my target of £500 easily - in fact reaching just over  £700. However, I could not have done this without the help of my wonderful husband, my children, my weightwatchers Leader Melissa and the enormous generosity of many friends and even from people who don't know me personally. You are all wonderful people.

One last plug for kidscape - Become a 'Friend of Kidscape'. Friends of Kidscape are wonderful people who support Kidscape by donating £25 or more each year in aid of their child safety & anti-bullying programmes. You will receive up to date information on Kidscape's work through their quarterly newsletter and annual report. You can pay a yearly payment or monthly by direct debit. Become a 'friend' for less than 50pence per week and help the thousands of children that are at risk of being bullied or abused.

At home we had a kidscape charity tin where the family has been putting in their loose change. It has mainly been the little ones who have been putting in their pennies -Thanks Luke and Sophie  - you're never too young to learn about giving to charity. Also thanks to anybody else who dropped money in the tin. It all helps.

Collection of sponsor money has started - hopefully all will be collected within a couple of weeks. With donations online and money collected already, I have exceeded my original target of £500. Final total figure to follow shortly. This just giving page will remain open for a while yet so please feel free to make any last minute donations to this very worthwhile cause.

31/08/10

Well my fund raising quest officially ends today. I had my final weigh in for my sponsored slim on Friday and can confirm that I have lost a total of 23lbs. I have well over £100 pledged in sponsorship money which I will collect over the next couple of weeks. Remember to come back and check my page for the final figure for the amount raised in total for Kidscape.

Kidscape is celebrating it's 25th Anniversary this year. They are trying to raise £250,000 to extend their helpline and to hold more of their ZAP assertiveness sessions for bullied children. As a past user of their service I have decided to support them and have set myself a personal target to try and raise at least £500 by the end of August.I hope to achieve this by doing a sponsored slim. Everybody in my house are dropping their small loose change in a collection box. Please Please help me achieve this target by also donating here via my justgiving page.

£10 will enable us to send ten anti-bullying packs filled with information, advice and strategies to help desperate families trying to cope with bullying.

£50 will provide over fifteen self-esteem guides to children attending Kidscape’s ZAP assertiveness sessions.

£450 will pay for one child (and their parents) to attend Kidscape’s ZAP assertiveness sessions.  This one day course changes their lives, giving them techniques to prevent bullying. 80% of the children who attend this course are no longer bullied.

£500 will ensure than an advisor can help over 100 families by running our helpline for a week.

My family were unfortunate enough to have to take advantage of a Kidscape ZAP course. Believe me it does make a difference!

Sponsored slim is going well. Have lost 11lbs so far. Thanks to all who have sponsored me. With online donations and money I will raise from the sponsored slim, I'm well on the way to achieving my target to raise £500 but wouldn't it be nice to exceed it.Keep watching this space!!

My Weightwatchers leader Melissa is being very supportive and as a group we are hoping to do a walk to raise some funds for Kidscape. In the early stages of planning, but hoping for something around the end of June/July - so watch this space!

I was hoping that my children's school would help support me by holding a non uniform day in aid of Kidscape. Unfortunately it went to school council who decided that on this occasion they could not help as they had already supported a children's charity and would like to raise funds for an animal charity. However, the head teacher has given me permission to have a Kidscape stall at the summer fete so hopefully we will raise some money that way.

11/06/10  I had my latest weigh in today.  I was really apprehensive about it this time as I have just returned from a fantastic family holiday in Orlando Florida.  The Americans love their food - maybe somewhere far back in my family bloodline I have an american ancestor.  Anyway for 14 days and nights I ate like I have never eaten before. Instead of a bowl of cereal or some toast for breakfast, I had a bowl of fruit salad (I was a little good :-) but I also had either an omelette or cooked breakfast plus pancakes and maple syrup. And that was just breakfast!!!!  So as you can imagine I was not looking forward to the dreaded weigh in. However, as anybody who has ever done a Disney holiday will know, we walked miles, and miles, and more miles every single day so that managed to counteract some of the damage from my over indulgence and I am pleased to report that I only put on half a pound in the two weeks we were away.

Well now that I am back home I have hit the ground running. I have the school fete next week where I am having a Kidscape stall to raise some funds. Will let you know how I get on.

 21/06/10

I held a kidscape stall at the school's summer fete. My sincere thanks goes to the headteacher who gave me permission to do this and to keep all of the proceeds for Kidscape (usually the money raised at the fete goes to school funds). I am delighted to say that I raised a grand total of £83.58. Thank you to those who donated prizes for my stall and thank you to Louise for helping me out on the stall. Last, but not least, thank you to all the people who supported me by buying tickets. You're all fantastic!!

13/07/10 My weightwatchers leader Melissa is helping to organise a walk around our local park on 7th August. Those taking part have the option of doing it as a sponsored walk or they can just make a donation to take part if they would prefer that. Thank you so much Melissa for your help and support and thanks to all the weightwatchers members that are taking part to support this very worthwhile charity.

24/08/10

Well we did our weightwatchers walk a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately the weather wasn't on our side but thank you to the handful of people who turned out. Your support is greatly appreciated. Thanks also to those who donated money and last but by no means least, Thanks to Melissa for organising the walk and her continued support during my weightloss journey.
