Welll I have done everything and managed to get all my sponsorship money not collected online delivered to the Jospice. Thank you to everyone who contributed I am pleased to say that they have now updated some of the TVs to Digital with the money.
Once again I would remind you the reason for my quest, to thank the Jopsice for looking after my Mum Lil Bates for the past 10 years. They do a great job in taking care of Mum and many others.
I started my quest with the Great North run on the 20th September 2009 which I ran with my friend Tina. We managed to stay together for 9 miles I lost Tina in the crowd at around mile 9 so we didn't finish together. I came in at 2.11.34 which was a 1.34mins slower than I wanted. To be honnest with the crowds 54,000 taking part I was happy with that. It was the first race I have done when the start and finish are just as croweded.
The support along the route was great. The route was not very inspiring apart from at mile 2 over the Tyne Bridge the Red Arrows went over us so we timed that just right. The end was nice running down to the sea at South Sheilds. The Red Arrows did a spectacular display (some photos attached). As you can see from the T Shirts and medal we finished smiling the, T Shirts appeared to be one size fits all! It is a small old world while I was walking to the route I saw and spoke to some fellow runners from Southampton. Although I wore the balloon for over 9 miles nobody saw me on TV.
On Thursday 24th September I and Paul climbed Ben Nevis. I was quite nervous about this as I had never climbed a mountain and was a bit worried about loosing the path. I couldn't have done the climb without Paul he kept me going. The visability at the top was limited infact we lost any distance visability about half way up the 1344meters. We got just over half way and the weather changed so we had to put our wet weather gear on. By the time we got to the top the wind had got up and we were rather wet ( see photos of me hanging on at the top). I would like to do the climb again sometime when the weather is better. I was thinking of looking at the Three Peak challenge but I have seen sence.
On the 25th October I and many others of my running group took part in the Great South Run I have done this race 3 times before and got a PB at 1.36. It stayed dry this year for the first time while I have taken part.
Please help me say thank you to the Jospice by sponsoring me for my quest.
