thank you to my first supporter for her generous donation! xx

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Sunday 1 April 2012 (what a date!!) I will be taking part in the 32nd Vattenfall Berlin Half Marathon. I am aiming to finish it in two hours....how achieveable that will be, remains to be seen!! Some of you may be thinking 'It's only 21 kms', but it's not the distance that counts, but the cause...

I am lucky enough to have never experienced the pain and heartache of becoming an Army widow, but there are many who have been less fortunate. The AWA supports Army widows / widowers and their children in their hour of need and in the years that follow.

PLEASE dig deep and donate now; every penny counts, no matter how seemingly small. I'm aiming for GBP 1000, but even half of that would be amazing! Any more and I'll be over the moon!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Thank you for taking the time to get this far! x

The Army Widows' Association was formed by a group of Army widows in 2004.It aims to offer support and friendship to those who have sadly lost their husband/wife or recognised partner at any stage of their bereavement through mutual empathy, experiences and by signposting new members to other sources of help at such a difficult time in their lives.

The AWA offers its support to all widows bereaved since 1981, death can have been as a result of many reasons: illness, RTA, conflict, suicide, training accidents. We hold an annual weekend and other events where widows can meet up, meet others who are in the same situation as themselves, find out lots of information, raise issues and are developing a network of smaller Regional meetings to improve our support.
