We raise funds and make grants to benefit patients at St Mary's Hospital

Story

A Cri de Coeur for The Friends of St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington.

We wonder if you know about The Friends?  What they do and who they are?

They support the hospital in every way they can from providing things like toothbrushes for those admitted as emergencies to buying major pieces of equipment that cannot be afforded by mainstream NHS funding.

Sue Rivers is currently the Chairman of The Friends and has worked at St. Mary’s since 1964.  Jan Prendergast is a former Lord Mayor of (2003-4) and during her year of office took as her charity Bowel Cancer at St. Mary’s.  She has been a Friend of St. Mary’s ever since.  After meeting in 2003, Jan and Sue discovered they had been at school together – a couple of years apart - and have become great pals.  This year they have decided to take part in the Women’s 5K Challenge on 6th September in to raise money for The Friends of St. Mary’s Hospital – an organisation about which they are both passionate.

We would be very grateful if you would sponsor us. We are extremely confident that we will get round but have to admit that we probably won’t be in the first five across the finishing line.  UPDATE;  WE DID IT IN 40 MINUTES AND ARE THRILLED.  IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO SPONSOR US!  WE ARE SO GRATEFUL FOR YOUR SUPPORT.

We would like to raise at least £5,000 because with that sort of money The Friends could make a significant difference to the treatment and care of patients while they are in our much-loved hospital.

About the charity

It raises funds to enable it to make grants to departments and wards at St Mary's Hospital to purchase equipment not readily available from NHS funds and to provide extra comforts for patients, support the hospital staff and improve facilities for visitors
