Story

I am setting up a Just Giving page to aid children of my age, and younger, all over the world who are more in need. Fasting in the long summer always makes me realise how much children in third world countries go through in their daily lives. Ramadhan is the month to help people and I feel by helping children, we are helping the future

"It’s heart-rending to see children wishing so very hard for what all the rest of us take for granted – a decent meal. Tonight, one in seven kids in the world will go to bed hungry. The World Federation’s Ramadhan Relief Fund ensures that thousands of children and orphans have enough food to eat – making the Holy month of Ramadhan a little easier.

The money that the children raise will provide more hot meals to thousands of hungry kids, including orphans who are counting on you to come through for them."

I enjoy working for the community and have always been involved in raising money for charities through bake sales, street collections, marathons and raising awareness. I also mentor younger children in my community and help the elderly. The topic of youth is something close to my heart as I feel that sometimes youths can be misunderstood and their voices are not heard. I was part of a Department for Education Youth board for two years and this made me feel like I have a voice and it was being noticed. Not only did we make government policies more 'youth-friendly', we also managed to engage other youths and I also represented the youth board at the United Nations Children's Rights Commission 50th anniversary at St James' palace. Through my experiences, I have met many youth ministers and MPs. I also recently represented Peterborough as an Olympic torchbearer, selected for my voluntary and charity work in my local and wider community.

My ideas to fundraise and create awareness for these children during this appeal is to hold local events, such as bakes sales, involving the younger children in the community with the fundraising, creating a short movie of the events and appeal and part of my wider ambition is to spend some time in a third world country and making a difference

Thank you for visiting my page and by donating, YOU are making the difference in our world. Spread the word :)
