<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-family: &quot;Microsoft PhagsPa&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;; color: #2a2a2a; font-size: 10pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: Tahoma; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;" lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: #000000;">Sunflowers &amp; Smiles 2011</span></span></span></strong></p> <p><span style="font-family: &quot;Microsoft PhagsPa&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;; color: #2a2a2a; font-size: 10pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: Tahoma; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;" lang="EN-US">As some of you know, in July 2008&nbsp;Izzy's beloved wife, my&nbsp;dearest friend&nbsp;and friend to many of you, Helen, sadly passed away after a lifelong battle against Cystic Fibrosis.&nbsp; Helen was loved dearly by everyone who knew her.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 16.2pt; background: white;"><span style="font-family: &quot;Microsoft PhagsPa&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;; color: #2a2a2a; font-size: 10pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: Tahoma; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;" lang="EN-US">Helen lived life to the full and didn&rsquo;t let her illness stop her doing the things she wanted to do.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>This included a charity expedition to Chile on Operation Raleigh, a holiday to Australia where she climbed Ayres Rock and did a bungee jump, Huskey Sledging in Iceland and gaining her Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 16.2pt; background: white;"><span style="font-family: &quot;Microsoft PhagsPa&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;; color: #2a2a2a; font-size: 10pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: Tahoma; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;" lang="EN-US">Helen had a daily routine of physiotherapy and nebulising, but on many occasions she needed time in hospital for a course of antibiotics and some well-earned rest.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>Many patients, like Helen, were at the hospital for long periods of time.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>Helen always spoke highly of the staff at The Royal Brompton Hospital in South Kensington.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>They provide excellent medical care and organise outings and activities to help make the patients stay as relaxing as possible.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>The Hospital also provides TVs for each room, books, DVDs and laptops for patients to use &ndash; something that Helen took advantage of and Izzy's credit card bills are proof of this!&nbsp; These amenities are provided as a result of donations made from families and friends of patients at the hospital.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 16.2pt; background: white;"><span style="font-family: &quot;Microsoft PhagsPa&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;; color: #2a2a2a; font-size: 10pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: Tahoma; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;" lang="EN-US">Because of this and because Helen&nbsp;thought so much of the staff and the care she was given at the Hospital, a fundraising day is being held to raise money for the <strong>Foulis Ward </strong>at the Royal Brompton Hospital.</span></p> <p><strong>A family fun day is being held on Saturday 18 June 2011 at the Brook House Pub in Hayes and we are starting the day with a 5m sponsored walk.&nbsp; If you would like to sponsor&nbsp;us, please make a donation through this page.</strong></p> <p><strong>Thanks for your support! </strong></p>
