Dunwich Dynamo all-night 120-mile bike-ride · 30 June 2012 to 1 July 2012 ·

The Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) organises workshops for people from all walks of life who want to deal with conflict well and without violence. It organises low-cost, friendly workshops in communities all over Britain and also runs programmes in prisons.

Story

I'm cycling the Dunwich Dynamo, a 120 mile ride at night from London Fields (Hackney) to Dunwich (on the Suffolk coast). We'll set off at 6pm on 30th June and arrive sometime earlyish the next morning, I hope!

Why? Because I like this sort of thing! And, because I want to support AVP in their work to help to create a less violent, healthier society. My friend David is the director of this small charity, and I know from him, and from a little bit of involvement myself that it does wonderful things, which are very much appreciated.

For just £15 AVP can pay for a prison inmate to do a six-week distance-learning course on nonviolence.  The demand for this from prison inmates is huge at the moment.

£40 funds a concessionary place on one of AVP's three-day nonviolence workshops.

98% of people who do either of the above say AVP is excellent or good, so it's worth it!

Please, if you can, support me and AVP. I promise to cycle most of the way with my hands on the handle bars!
