Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit Support Zimbabwe.

I am a 22 year old politics student in Glasgow who dreams of making a difference in the world. Through my experiences I have discovered that simply donating money to a charity wasn't enough, I needed to see where my money went. That is why I signed on to the Restless Development's Zimbabwe program through the Westminster funded ICS (International Citizens Service), so that I can personally make a difference.

Unfortunately everyone who wants to make a difference does not have the time to spend 3 months in rural Zimbabwe. Good news; YOU can still help!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. Not a penny of your donation goes towards paying for the volunteers' expenses, it all goes towards developing the Zimbabwean community.

If you want to see how your donation makes a difference follow this blog; http://supportzimbabwe.wordpress.com/. Every little donation helps.

I will, as part of a team, spend 3 months working in rural Zimbabwe running workshops on livelihoods/employability, sexual and reproductive health, and civic engagement. These workshops will develop crucial skills for the community so that they can plan for the future, make conscious decisions about their health and contribute to furthering the development of Zimbabwean society.

Development work requires a strong commitment from those who donate their time and energy to support a growing community. Especially in a country like Zimbabwe where 40% of the population is under 15 and a country which has suffered from hyperinflation, epidemics of both cholera and HIV/AIDS within the last 5 years. To ensure that our aid reaches the people the volunteers themselves travel down to live, learn and provide for the community.
