A year ago a colleague casually asked if I was interested climbing Mt Kilimanjaro .Half joking I replied -'yes of course ' not knowing what I was letting myself in for !  However on further reflection and discussion with my wife Lakhbir, we felt that as we have now passed the big 50 year milestone we should have a go while we are still capable- we hope! -Yes you,ve guessed right,- Lakhbir is also doing the climb .

We wish to use this oppurtunity to raise money for  a worthwhile cause- We have chosen Demelza children's  hospice

When the word hospice is mentioned we usually think of palliative care of the adult/elderly patients. However we often forget ,sadly,sometimes children are  also diagnosed with incurable conditions .They and their families  also require specialist help and support which Demelza provides

.I have had the oppurtunity of visiting their local  hospice in Eltham, whilst working as a GP in out of hours and was impressed by the dedication and care of the families and staff working together to support children in challenging and emotional circumstances .

We hope we can help  to raise awareness of this organisation and its work as well as raising funds-with your help- to support Demelza.

Their motto is-  

"adding life to days when days cannot be added to life"
